- Doors and drawer fronts removed, labelled and finished off the frame
- Degreased, sanded and primed — the step that decides whether a cabinet finish lasts a year or ten
- A bonding primer suited to the existing surface, whether that is melamine, thermofoil or wood
- The kitchen sealed off from the rest of the house while work is underway
- Everything rehung and realigned before we leave
