Plastering & taping

Boarding, taping, mudding and skim coats — new walls and ceilings brought to a flat, even surface ready for finish.

09

Flat is a skill, not a setting.

Here is what the job actually involves. If a quote you are comparing does not mention most of it, that is where the difference in price is.

  • Board hung with the joints planned, not wherever the sheet ended
  • Taped and coated in passes, each one allowed to dry properly before the next
  • Corners run straight — inside and out, which is where bad taping always shows
  • Full skim coats where an old wall is too uneven to patch
  • Sanded and dusted down before priming
